The Southcars VOip net is now in full operation. The maiden voyage was conducted on January 5, 2008 with 102 stations participating. This is a voice net, digitally assisted and one mirroring that which is found on our mother ship 7.251 MHz.

VOip stands for "Voice over Internet Protocol". (Note that we emphasize the VOice!)

To participate one would only need your normal home computer equipped with a microphone, sound card and internet access. The program that we will be using is called Echolink. This is a free program and one designed by a ham, for hams. Additionally, only licensed hams can gain access to it's use.

General and or technical information maybe found at www.echolink.org and the Southcars web pages outlined below.

This net is initiated based on several considerations. The need and want to diversify in keeping with the state of technology and the varying interest levels of our membership. The need to find and support alternate methods for membership participation in keeping with an extremely fast, vibrant, and growing membership level.

Please Note: This alternate net will not in anyway shape or form change anything on the current operation of 7251.

The High Speed and multi-user conference server for this net is being supplied by:
The West Michigan Privately Owned Repeater Network
